In Antigua & Barbuda, fishing lines and nets, boat wrecks and general trash in the sea cause a significant problem for our local marine environment. Coral and sponges are damaged, and fish and marine animals can become ensnared.
Our Volunteer Diver Group organizes cleaning expeditions on the reefs and on boat wrecks, and we locate and remove ghost nets from our seas. We also help those who have coral nurseries to clean their coral sites and to outplant corals.
Our Volunteer Diver Group may use kayaks, snorkelling or scuba gear to ensure that we remove all discarded plastics, fishing line, rope, and any other waste from the ocean.
