Ocean Cleanup

In Antigua & Barbuda plastics and trash on land and in the sea cause a significant problem for our local marine environment.

Turtle nesting sites can be disrupted, corals damaged, fish and marine animals ensnared, and the mangroves filled with plastics and other debris.

In collaboration with other local environmental groups, our volunteer dive group organizes cleaning expeditions of the sea around our islands.

Our Volunteer Diver Group may use kayaks, snorkeling or scuba gear to ensure that we remove all discarded plastics, fishing line, rope and any other waste from the ocean.

We also have a Wild Coast Cleaning Group which tackles offshore and hard-to-reach beaches and removes plastics, fishing nets and other rubbish from those locations. We have also been involved in cleaning around new wrecks.
