Protecting Our Marine Environment

Whether you live on island, or are visiting us from afar, Antigua & Barbuda offers the pristine tranquility of the turquoise Caribbean Sea combined with our spectacular white sandy beaches.

With great beauty comes an even greater responsibility to preserve our marine environment for future generations.

The Antigua & Barbuda Ocean Trust is a volunteer-based, local not-for-profit organisation, that supports the conservation of the seas and shores of our twin islands.

Our Youth Eco-Diver Program trains local youth members to become tomorrow’s marine ecologists. We have created a number of community initiatives that are designed to educate visitors, locals and youth. These include an educational card for visiting yachtsmen, a marine conservation program within our youth sailing programs and a safe sunscreen initiative.

Our Volunteer Diver Group consists of experienced divers that will help with a wide range of projects including underwater cleanups, scientific projects, lionfish hunting and becoming mentors for our Youth Eco-Diver Program.

We rely entirely on donations and on the hard work of our volunteers
